DOCTORAL COURSE ENROLLMENT

For information on how to apply for the PhD program, consult the University website.

Access to the Ph.D. Programme in Biology is based on a ranking list (indicating both successful and unsuccessful candidates) for each of the research topics specified on the public announcement. The competition is conducted through assessment of the curriculum and an interview relating to the research topic of the project specified on the public announcement. The internal organization of the Doctorate in Biology includes different teaching activities and deadlines for each year of the course, summarized in the Regulations of the Doctorate.

Cotutelle (Co-tutorship) agreement for Ph.D. Programme

Ph.D. students from the University of Pisa and foreign universities may attend the doctoral program "in cotutela" for the purpose of completing the dissertation, under the joint supervision of a minimum of two professors, at least one from each university. The Ph.D. students must already be duly enrolled in a Ph.D. programme at one of the two partnering universities under the relevant regulations in force. A Ph.D. student from a foreign university must still possess the qualifications required for admission to the doctoral program verified by the course's faculty.

Ph.D. students are urged to consult Article 25 of the University Regulations on the doctoral program.

IRIS ARPI - Institutional research information system - University of Pisa Research Archives

IRIS ARPI collects publications and documentation on the scientific research products of the university's staff. The archive is managed by IRIS, CINECA's integrated research data management system, and provides researchers with tools to monitor research results, increase their visibility and effectively allocate available resources.

Ph.D. students are invited to connect to the portal, log in with their University credentials and then access their personal page to enter new products and operate on any existing ones.

For support and assistance in entering and managing research products in IRIS-ARPI, it is possible to contact the support staff at the email address This email address is being protected from spambots.
