ERASMUS MOBILITY FOR STUDY

The Department of Biology welcomes international students nominated by their universities.

Students who wish to come to Pisa for an Erasmus mobility must be nominated by the Erasmus coordinator of their sending institution.

Nominated students will receive a confirmation message including instructions to complete their application.

GUIDELINES FOR SELECTION OF COURSES

Before the application, students are recommended to check available courses from the relevant degrees through the VALUTAMI portal (choose degree course from the drop-down menu)

Please notice the following items:

  1. The academic year 
  2. The degree level (Bachelor, Master),
  3. The semester of the class (check that it is compatible with your mobility),
  4. The language of teaching (it will be Italian in most cases, you are expected to understand and communicate in the language of teaching),
  5. Whether attendance is mandatory or not especially for the practical parts of the courses,
  6. The type of final exam (written, oral, practical).

Incoming Erasmus students will be allowed to select any course offered by the Department of Biology. Please mind that:

  • Bachelor’s degree students will be allowed to add only maximum 2 courses offered by Master’s degrees;
  • All students will be allowed to add maximum 2 courses offered by other Departments (with prior authorization);
  • It will not be possible to select a course for a lower number of ECTS than offered.
  • Please always include the course code in your Learning Agreement-Before the mobility (see "course code" column in the list of available course);
  • Some courses consist of different modules. You cannot select just a single module but only the entire course;
  • You cannot select annual courses if you applied for a single semester;
  • Make sure to select courses scheduled during the semester you applied for.
  • be aware that courses from different degrees may have overlapping timetables and distant locations, please check.

APPLICATION SUBMISSION

Nominated students must submit their application through the Erasmus Mobility portal according to deadlines and procedures of the current academic year. Once students have selected their desired courses, they can begin their application process on the Erasmus Mobility Portal. The application must include information about both the sending and receiving institutions, as well as the Learning Agreement Before the Mobility. This agreement should detail a list of exams to be taken at the receiving institution and the corresponding credits that will be recognized by the sending institution. It's important to note that this document must be signed by you and your Coordinator and uploaded in its final version on the Erasmus Mobility Portal within the given deadline.

TEACHING METHOD

All teaching activities, including laboratories, seminars, exercises, projects, exams and other practical activities, will be held in presence. Please carefully read University guidelines regarding teaching activities and exams in compliance to national legislation and the Anti-contagion Safety Protocol of the University of Pisa (last update: 01/03/2023).

LANGUAGE OF TEACHING

In any case, students are expected to understand and communicate in the language of teaching, as specified in the "language of teaching" column of the list of available courses. This includes lessons (practical and theoretical) and final exams. The teaching material will be available only in the language of teaching. We strongly suggest that you check the possession of the required language level (mostly B2) well in advance of your mobility.
